Overview

We all dream when we sleep. Sometimes people claim that they do not have dreams, and the truth is that they do; they just may not recall them. Pregnancy can add some new challenges to sleeping and interruptions to sleep cycles, impacting your recollection of dreams. The more you recall from your dreams, the more vivid they may seem and the more details you remember. In addition, anxiety and stress during pregnancy, and even in the postpartum period, can impact our sleep quality, emotional state, and subconscious thoughts, which can all affect our dreams. Fortunately, there is quite a bit of research on dreaming during pregnancy that may help us to understand pregnancy dreams better. This episode answers a listener’s question about whether vivid dreams are common during pregnancy and what causes them.
