Overview

When you choose a doctor or midwife, you need to ask if they will be present for the birth of your baby.  Often a practice will have multiple doctors or midwives, and the doctor or midwife who will attend your birth will be the person who is on call when you go into labor.  In this scenario, it is common for your appointments to be with different practitioners, so you have an opportunity to meet everyone at some point during your prenatal care.  It can be a challenge to be comfortable with all of the doctors or midwives in a practice so that by the time you go into labor, you will be comfortable with whoever happens to be on call to attend your birth.  This episode responds to an email from a listener who is having difficulty getting comfortable with some of the midwives in the practice.
